Great White Egret

(Pelecaniformes)

Identification : These are waterbirds of various sizessmall, medium, and largewith long necks and legs. They are often seen wading in water or standing still among reeds or aquatic plants, using their long, sharp bills to catch small aquatic animals or insects on the ground. When flying, they tuck their heads and necks close to their bodies and stretch their legs backward. They nest in large colonies on trees, building simple nests from twigs.

There are 61 species worldwide and 20 species found in Thailand. They are active during the daytime.
