Greater racket-Tailed Drongo
Dicrurus paradiseus
Identification: It has a slender, elongated body with a short crest on the forehead. The plumage is black with a bluish sheen. The tail is relatively long with a shallow fork, and the outermost tail feathers are greatly elongated. The tips of these outer feathers flare to one side and are twisted. Juvenile birds have a short crest, lack the long outer tail feathers, and show white markings on the belly and undertail coverts. It can be found in a variety of good habitats, including evergreen forests, mixed deciduous forests, dry dipterocarp forests, forest plantations, and public parks. It produces a wide variety of melodic calls and is known to mimic the calls of other bird species. It is a common resident bird.
